There will be a change in the
format for the 2026 Area II Tournament.
We realize that having 4 section
tournaments is no longer feasible due to the declining number of wrestlers.
Area II has looked at different formats for the tournament.
We considered
having one area tournament, but that format isn’t logistically possible.
It
would result in an extremely long day for wrestlers, fans and volunteers.
It
would also require wrestlers in many weight classes to wrestle an unacceptable number
of matches.
After careful consideration,
we’ve decided to have 2 section tournaments. Sections 1 & 2 will compete in
one tournament and Sections 3 & 4 in the other.
We still plan to have the
same number of wrestlers qualify for the Area II Tournament.
Details on the 2 tournaments,
including information on sites, weigh-ins and advancement will be made
available soon.
We hope these changes will make the Area II Tournament a better
experience for everyone.
